Rayman 4 is an unreleased 3D platform game developed by Ubisoft Montreuil between 2007 and 2009. This game is only known through the book L'Histoire de Rayman, which states that fewer than 15 people worked on it, including Michaël Janod.[1] It also mentions an undisclosed gameplay specificity that would have distinguished the game from the rest of the series, which Janod called "very good, but extremely complex".
Janod also stated that, as part of an effort to return to the series' roots and make its universe more consistent, iconic characters such the Livingstones, Globox, the Lums and the Robo-Pirates were planned to return in this iteration of Rayman 4.
L'Histoire de Rayman also contains concept art of a young human girl named Cielle who was intended to appear in the game. It is unknown what her role would have been and if she would have been a playable character. It is possible that after the game was cancelled, Cielle served as the inspiration for Barbara.
