Rayman Jungle Run is a 2D sidescroller platform game for iOS and Android devices, that uses the same graphical style of Rayman Origins. It was released on iOS on the 20th September 2012 and on Android on the 27th September 2012. With an update released on 4th December 2012 for iOS, players can access to 10 extra levels and purchase a pack of new playable characters, including Globox and Bad Rayman. In March 2013 the game was ported to Windows 8 and RT. Another update was released on 11th April 2013, adding 20 extra levels to the game.

Gameplay

Rayman runs automatically through the entire level. The player can jump - and helicopter later on - by tapping anywhere on the screen. He can also do a wall run and attack using the dedicated button in the bottom-left corner. The goal is to obtain as many lums as possible out of 100 and to rush through the level. The Skull Coins reappear here too, though they only worth 20 lums. Also, new colors of Skull Teeth appear in the game: green and blue. The green one can be obtained at 8 lums, the blue one at 50 lums, and the red one at 100 lums. As soon as five red teeth are obtained, the Land of the Livid Dead opens up. These levels are much harder than the normal levels, as there are no lums and the player only have to complete these levels in order to gain a red tooth. If all of the 10 red Skull Teeth are collected, the completed section will be marked with a crown.

Levels

Rayman Jungle Run is divided in four sections, each one giving priority to one of Rayman's abilities. All four sections are subdivided in ten levels, the tenth level only being accessed if the player has collected 5 red Skull Teeth from that section. The game has received updates since its release, adding Potpourri, Pirate ship and Giant Plant.

Known Issues and Bugs

  • On Android, the Achievements menu cannot be selected in the main menu, howewer, the player still can obtain achievements throughout the game, which, when earned, pop up at the top of the screen.
  • On a level of the fourth world, it is possible to jump above the Goal Flag and fly away. After a few seconds, the background starts to disappear.
  • There are many Android devices that do not display the game in the usual Play Store app, but if one downloads the app from other sources it is possible to run it and play the game. The Play store's desktop site tells that these devices are not compatible with the game; why this happens is currently unknown, despite the week long delay on Android after its release on iOS.
