Rayman Dictées (also known as Les Dictées de Rayman) is an entry in the Rayman educational series. This game was released for the PC only and exclusively sold in France & Canada. It is only available in French, with no other versions supporting different languages having been made.

The game focuses on dictation exercises which aim to help the player improve their spelling and grammar. Unlike most Rayman games, it also features several human characters such as Clara the Witch, Patrick, Gaaf, Tim, Junior, Landra, and Sam.

Synopsis

One day, Rayman is seen resting in his room when suddenly Clara appears, by magic, alongside a machine called the Télévox. Clara explains to Rayman that the Télévox was broken during an argument between Rayman's friends from the island of Amnesia. Clara then says she has cast a curse on them, called "The Curse of the Express Refrigerator", which freezes Rayman's human friends up to their torsos. She also explains that she will only free them if the Télévox is fixed. Rayman accepts to help with repairs and then jumps into the Télévox.

History

Rayman Dictées is a crossover released in 1998 featuring Rayman and another educational game series developed by Ubisoft: The Adventures of Tim 7.

The Adventures of Tim 7's main character is a young boy named Tim. One day, he has a scooter accident and falls unconscious. He is then found and kidnapped by a mad scientist, Doctor Gaaf, who takes him to the Island of Amnesia to experiment on him. As this is his seventh guinea pig, Doctor Gaaf gives him the name "Tim 7". Following his accident, Tim 7 has become amnesiac and unable to escape from Doctor Gaaf. The Adventures of Tim 7 has the player help Tim regain his lost memories through educational activities.

In addition to the player, Tim 7 also has help from the other inhabitants of Amnesia: Clara, Patrick, Landra, Junior and Sam.

Trivia

• A Spyglass Pirate makes a cameo appearance in Rayman's room.
• A sound effect that's used in-game was re-used in Rayman 3.
• One of the tracks used in a grammar exercise is re-used from the Rayman level Eat at Joe's.
• The music that can be heard during the game's intro is a variation of English with Rayman's opening.
