Rayman on a maracas rocket.

Maracas rockets are musical instruments found in Band Land. When Rayman jumps on them, they ignite and expel their handles, and then start rising. It is possible to change their courses by placing Rayman on the left or right edges. If the maracas rockets get stuck, they will burst after a few seconds, potentially damaging Rayman.

Maracas springs are an alternate type of maracas, which do not ignite when stepped on but only cushion Rayman's jump, sinking slightly before springing back to their original positions. It is usually safer not to stand on them for too long, as they are often placed above wrong notes. Both of these maracas are available in Rayman Designer and its spin-offs.

In Rayman Advance, maracas rockets move at a slower speed than in the other versions, probably to make up for the game's smaller field of view.
