—Manual, Rayman

Candy Château (French: Le Château des DélicesThe Castle of Delights) is the sixth and final world in the original Rayman game. It consists in a universe made up of sweet food such as cakes and lollipops. This world is only accessible once every single cage of Electoons has been broken; no cages can be found in Candy Château itself.

Description

As he makes progress through nougat bars, ice cream cups and chocolate tablets, Rayman must avoid the clowns that stand in his way. Appearances can be deceiving, as even the whipped cream present all over the place and lemonade are revealed to constitute respectively a dangerously slippery soil and deadly lakes into which Rayman can drown. Hardly arrived, Rayman must slide down one of those slopes on a frying pan, only to find himself face to face with Mr Dark, who summons Bad Rayman, his evil double. After escaping him, Mr Dark appears again and cast various spells at Rayman in order to stop his progression. He eventually steals his telescopic fist, but the Electoons freed by Rayman get it back, allowing him to battle the kidnapper of the Great Protoon.

In the Maths and English with Rayman games, huge Swiss army knives, barley sugar sticks, caramel bars with prickly heads on them, spiky red balls attached to nougat and bouncing jelly cakes can also be found, while Rayman Designer and the Atari Jaguar version of the game feature floating candies, smaller caramel bars, more models of Swiss army knives and corkscrews.

The enemies in Candy Château include Antitoons, hunters, punching clowns, bubble throwing clowns and bomb-launching clowns. The boss is Mr Dark, the main antagonist in the game. Rayman meets him throughout Mr Dark's Dare, and fights him for the final victory.

Once beaten, Rayman and his friends are seen enjoying themselves, while most enemies in the game appear to be resting and having fun.

Levels

This world has the unique distinction of being the only one in the game that only features one level:

Saves

This section lists saves for the PC version of the game. Instructions on how to implement them can be found here.

In other games

In 2005, Phoenix Studio began work on Rayman 4. The game was ultimately cancelled, but many pieces of concept art have since been unveiled, including one which depicts a level named Candy Ltd. This surreal sweets factory was inspired by the Candy Château, and may be part of it as well.

A world of sweets also appears in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids – a game which combines aspects of Phoenix Studio's Rayman 4 and Ubisoft Montpellier's cancelled Rayman Raving Rabbids platformer. This world, known simply as the Sweets world, appears to have been heavily based on the Candy Château. It is possible that the two worlds are one and the same, but this remains unconfirmed.

Candy Land

Candy Land is a world that was introduced in the mobile game Rayman Fiesta Run. It is a land made entirely of presents, candy, sweets, and desserts that seems to have been heavily inspired by the Candy Château. Like with the Sweets world, it is possible that Candy Land and the Candy Château are one and the same, but this remains unconfirmed.
