Rayman can catch these hooks by hitting them.
Rayman using the LockJaw on a flying hook.

Flying hooks are metallic objects hovering in the air by a propeller. With the LockJaw, Rayman can grab onto them and reach otherwise inaccessible places. They replace flying rings in the original Rayman game and Purple Lums in Rayman 2.

Flying hooks are first encountered in Clearleaf Forest, where Rayman is introduced to the LockJaw power. They are since seen throughout the rest of the game.

Flying rings are remodeled in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, instead of looking like flying metal rings, they look like metal crowns on top of small semicircular hoops. Rayman can swing on these without the aid of Laser-Washing Powder.
