The Desert of Dijiridoos, also known as the Desert of the Didjiridoos and later revisited as the Grumbling Grottos, is the second world in Rayman Origins. It later appeared in the Back to Origins mode of Rayman Legends. This world, themed after music and composed mainly of musical instruments, is reminiscent of Band Land, a world from the original Rayman game.

Description

The Desert of Dijiridoos consists of a large desert landscape. Throughout the desert are many different instruments, such as pianos, drums and gongs, which assist the players throughout the world.

  Electrical shocks are common in this world. Sometimes, they can be deactivated.

Grumbling Grottos

The Desert of Dijiridoos is the second world in Rayman Origins. It is home to a nymph called Holly Luya, who, like Betilla in the Jibberish Jungle, has been captured by a Darktoon. When she is saved, she gives the heroes their second permanent power: the ability to glide. As the heroes continue throughout this world, they encounter different kinds of birds, both friendly and hostile. Other enemies such as electrical shocks and familiar-looking spiky birds appear. Some areas are very windy; the team must use their newly acquired glide power to fly with the wind. When the heroes eventually reach the giant mosquitoes, they will enter the third world, Gourmand Land.

Desert of Dijiridoos

Later on, the heroes must find and save the Four Kings in order to advance to the Moody Clouds. One of the worlds they enter is the Grumbling Grottos, an environment comprised of mysterious caves near the desert. This world is more protected and hazardous than the Desert of Dijiridoos and features numerous swarms of black flying creatures which resemble locusts. Rayman and his friends must use gongs to create sound waves which shield them from the flying creatures. The boss of this world is the Mocking Bird, a more dangerous version of the previously encountered Boss Bird.

Early production

Band Land served as the early inspiration for the Desert of Dijiridoos.

Not much is known about the early development of the Desert of Dijiridoos, except that Band Land, a world from the original Rayman game, served as the early inspiration for this world.

The Desert of Dijiridoos returns as a world in the Back to Origins mode of Rayman Legends. The levels from both the Desert of Dijiridoos and the Grumbling Grottos are merged into one world. Some levels, such as the Electoon stages, are not present. The levels themselves mostly remain the same, with some graphical updates. The Magician's hat has, however, been removed from the levels, and some have been made easier.

Trivia

• The Desert of Dijiridoos was considered for inclusion as a board in Rayman: The Board Game, but it lost the popular vote to Fiesta de los Muertos during the Kickstarter campaign.
