A liana is a type of pink-leafed, vine-like plant found in the Rayman series, most notably in the original Rayman game, Rayman Junior and Rayman Designer. In these games they appear only in the Dream Forest. They also appear in Rayman 2 and the Game Boy Color versions of Rayman and Rayman 2 with the same purpose.

In Rayman and its spin-offs

Lianas are first seen in the very first level of the original Rayman game, Pink Plant Woods. Their primary purpose in the Dream Forest is to allow Rayman to climb them to reach higher areas to advance or find a specific item.

In the Atari Jaguar version, the leaves of the lianas are colourized differently. Instead of pink and purple, the leaves are dark pink and aqua with a small shade of purple.

In Rayman Junior and Rayman Designer, dangerous lianas with pinkish thorns appear. If Rayman tries to climb on these lianas, he will get hurt.

In Rayman 2

Rayman makes use of a 3D liana in Rayman 2.

Lianas return in Rayman 2. They are less colourful and more realistic than in the previous game, and their functionality has been adapted to 3D; Rayman no longer needs to jump from vine to vine, as he can now climb smoothly along in any direction. They appear in forest-themed levels.

In the Game Boy Color version of Rayman and Rayman 2 Forever

Lianas also appear in the Game Boy Color versions of Rayman and Rayman 2. They have the same function as they do in the main games.
