Lasers are obstacles that appear in many games throughout the Rayman series.

In Rayman

In the original Rayman game, yellow lasers can be seen being shot from Space Mama's rolling pin in her second encounter with Rayman. They also appear in the second part of the battle with Mr Dark, when he is morphed into two smaller versions of Space Mama and Bzzit.

In Rayman 2

In Rayman 2, lasers are mostly seen in Robo-Pirate bases. They are either stationary or move in a set pattern. Most of them are there to prevent the player from reaching a certain area, while others act as obstacles. When Rayman comes into contact with a laser he will take damage and sometimes die instantly. Unlike electric beams, they are red in color and do not electrocute Rayman.

In the Canopy, Globox uses his Rain Dance on lasers to short-circuit them. In Rayman Revolution, Rayman can do the same with the Rain Mask.

In Rayman M, Rayman Arena and Rayman Rush

In Rayman M and Rayman Arena, lasers appear in the race levels Thousand Waterfalls, Zenith Harbour and Pipe Maze. When touched, the player will be stunned for a few seconds before being able to continue. Lasers in these games look much more like very bright long flames. They can move or be completely static. Some switches allow players to activate or disactivate them.

Lasers in Rayman Rush are much more similar in appearance to the ones in Rayman 2, being beams of thin red light projected by a metallic box with a Robo-Pirate symbol on it. They serve the same function as lasers in other ports of the game, although they replace electric beams in many race maps too.

In Rayman 3

In Rayman 3, lasers appear in areas with Hoodlums and appear red like they did in Rayman 2.

At the beginning of the first section of Clearleaf Forest there is a room with a floor covered with lasers. The player must avoid them by climbing above them. If touched, they make Rayman lose health quickly.

In the Land of the Livid Dead, Céloche generates lasers as an attack.

In Rayman Origins

In Rayman Origins, lasers appear in Gourmand Land. When the player touches a laser, a knife or fork will come down where the laser was.

In Rayman Legends

In Rayman Legends, lasers appear in 20,000 Lums Under the Sea. The lasers are all red. They are connected to a Dark Sentry which will fire at the player when touching the laser. If the player finished the level Mansion of the Deep without touching any lasers, the trophy Splinter Ray is earned.

The Mechanical Dragon also fires a pink laser from its gem during its boss fight.

In Rayman Adventures

In Rayman Adventures, lasers appear in Sea of Serendipity. This time they are not connected to a Dark Sentry and will instead alert nearby enemies and block off certain items, such as Skull Coins.
